Lorre Acosta

Lorre Todd Acosta, M.A. CCC-SLP has over 25 years of work experience in the field of Speech-Language Pathology. She is a California native, originally from Yorba Linda, in Orange County. She received her BA in Communication Disorders and her MA in Speech Language Pathology, both at California State University, Fullerton. She had externships working in the schools at Placentia-Linda USD and at Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital in the outpatient clinic and seeing inpatients in the hospital, providing speech and language therapy to Parkinson’s and Stroke patients with dysphagia, voice, cognitive, dysarthria and speech and language disorders. She is accredited by the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds a California state license in Speech-Language Pathology.

In her early years as a speech language pathologist , Lorre had experience teaching Interpersonal Communication classes at Rancho Santiago Community College as well as working with business professionals wanting to achieve accent reduction. She spent 12 years working in a speech and language private practice in Culver City. There she was able to help develop programs for children with speech and language disorders and kids with Autism. She worked in the office seeing children and adults with a variety of speech, language and voice disorders and started doing in-service presentations for the community on speech and language development and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). She also provided services in the schools as a non-public agent, worked in homes with children and providing home health treatment to adults. She also worked on weekends providing cognitive, speech, language, voice and swallowing therapy to elderly patients in a skilled nursing facility.

Lorre began working as a private contractor in the South Bay in 2005, providing therapy services in private schools, preschools and in homes and helping guide families through the IEP process and advocating for families who needed help navigating through the IEP process. While Lorre primarily works with children, she also works with adults with social language, articulation, language and voice disorders. She also has experience working with singers and actors in improving voice projection and speech clarity. In 2014, she began providing food selectivity treatment to families whose kids have very restricted food choices related to Autism and recently began working with a vocational training program for young Autistic adults, helping them prepare to transition into the workforce and increase their overall independence. Lorre has experience working with children and adults with Down Syndrome, Autism, Hearing Disorders, ADHD, Learning Disorders, Apraxia of Speech, Reading And Writing Disorders, Phonological Disorders, Articulation Disorders, Language Disorders, Voice Disorders, Diaphragmatic Breathing Training, Speech Disorders associated with Respiratory Difficulties, Social Language Disorders, Accent Reduction and Vocal Hygiene programs.

She lives in Redondo Beach with her son and daughter and Maltepoo. She likes to spend her free time with her family and friends listening to live music, trying new restaurants and exploring new cities, as well as developing her aerial arts skills through aerial fitness classes.

Lorre’s passion for helping children with special needs and their families continues to grow daily. She is always looking to expand her knowledge and increase her experience through continuing education and working in new areas of service related to her clients’ needs.
